Iron railway bridge at Elvet, Durham

A partial history of the Durham-Murton-Sunderland railway built by the NER in 1892. Though the video focuses on the construction of the railway bridge across the River Wear near Old Durham, (now demolished), it also gives an account of Elvet station and the line. The video is on YouTube via this link.

Water mil at Kepier, Durham

History and conjectured reconstruction of the water-powered corn mill at Kepier Hospital, Durham City. This article was published in the Durham and Northumberland Archeological Journal, Vol 21, 2018. The painting below shows what the scene may have been after the mill had burned down in 1870.

Mansions of CrossTown, Knutsford

This is a 56 page booklet which I wrote for the Knutsford Heritage Centre. Two limited editions were printed and sold at the Heritage Centre. Now that all copies have been sold, it will not be reprinted, but the full text, including the 2026 supplement on Aylesby House, is included here.

St Cross church, Knutsford

I made this video, now on YouTube, in 2016 and updated it in 2020. It gives the history of the church and its parish over 300 years.

Proposed traffic and parking scheme for Knutsford, 2020

In 2020 a working party at Knutsford town council developed a proposal for solving some of the traffic congestion in the town's ancient centre, conceived by Councillor Christopher Grey. I was involved in making this video to illustrate the 'From Top to Bottom Street' scheme. A public consultation was held, and I wrote the analysis and report, reprinted here. In the event the scheme gained no support from Cheshire East Council, and has not been implemented.
