Dyeworks & Railway Sidings at Collyhurst

This is based on some photographs taken in the 1950s of Collyhurst Road in north Manchester. Some of the buildings in the foreground remain, but the railway sidings have long gone. So this is a half imagined, unrealistic industrial landscape. I have not painted in the style of L.S. Lowry, but he did know this place and did a series of drawings and paintings of the flight of steps up to the brick footbridge which crossed the railway yard. We are looking westwards.
